DEPOSITS

All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE. Please finalise any decisions regarding design, cost, commitment, availability etc, BEFORE booking any appointment. By leaving a deposit you are agreeing with the design and time commitment as discussed with your tattooer during your consultation.

LARGER WORKS

Larger or ongoing works will require a deposit of a full session paid in advance, the session price will be clearly outlined to you by the tattooer.

SMALLER WORKS

For all smaller to medium tattoos a minimum of $100 is required for a deposit.

REFUNDS/CREDITS

All deposits are non refundable, under all circumstances. However given enough time and notice all deposits will be honoured with no expiry date. If the decision of not going ahead with the tattoo occurs, the deposit can then either be used at our shop/merchandise store or used for artwork or can be transferred to a gift voucher. If a deposit is left, but no tattoo appointments are made, clients must come to the store to redeem the deposit as a Gift Voucher which can be used at any time and is transferable to friends and family.

TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT

A tattoo is permanent; and by choosing to be tattooed you are making a change to your body that will last a lifetime, and is not a decision to be made lightly. You must be of sober and sane mind and choose to be tattooed under your own free will. No second opinions are required regarding a client's tattoo. The decision must be made by the client and should not be pressured or influenced by friends, family, loved ones, co-workers ect. If prior to booking an appointment you know of any reason not to be tattooed, ie work, financial, sunburn or wounded area or any other medical reasons you must notify us via phone or in person, with enough notice as to not be financially responsible for your appointment. At any stage after booking the tattoo appointment, and seeing the final design; should you still feel unsure about the tattoo, you are in no way obligated or forced to continue with the tattoo. However you are still financially responsible for the time allotted for your booking (your non-refundable deposit).

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TATTOO GUIDELINES

All clients MUST be 18 years and over, as per the LAW in Australia. No ID no tattoo. Having parental consent for people under 18 does not matter, all clients must strictly be 18 years and above.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Laser removal is a painful and expensive process that in no way guarantees the complete removal of any tattoo and may even leave permanent scarring or skin pigmentation loss. It is worth acknowledging that the cost of laser tattoo removal is far more expensive than the loss of a booked tattoo appointment. Laser tattoo removal has been proven to dramatically lighten tattoos, and may aid to a “cover-up”.

INKS/REACTIONS

Please note that all skin types will heal differently and no one client will have the same result as the next. Some skin types are more prone to scarring than others, although this is not common. This is an unforseeable event until the tattoo is in the healing stage, and is in no way the tattooers responsibility. Some inks can also cause dermatological reactions in some people, again this is not a common event and will usually result in a slightly scarred tattoo (rasied).

The colour of the ink will also change from what is seen in the bottle, to when it is in the skin depending on the skin tone. This is something the client needs to consider when choosing a coloured tattoo design, and if in doubt needs to seek advise from the tattooer prior to getting tattooed.

CONSULTATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS

CONSULTATIONS

All clients must come to tattoo consultations prepared with clear reference images and an idea of the tattoo location and size. Clients must be open to the collaborative process between the tattooer and client. Tattooers are not clairvoyants or mind readers, and their design may differ from what the client originally imagined. The tattooers’ design will be their best understanding of the ideas discussed during the consultation.

RESCHEDULING

Booking an appointment is committing to purchase a tattooer's time, (a finite and valuable thing). Regardless of missing appointments (from the client's end), the client is financially responsible for the tattooer's time. This ‘time’ is inclusive of the drawing/design, set up and pack down and the tattooing time itself. To reschedule an appointment clients must CALL and speak with a staff member of Green Lotus no less than 72 hours before all appointments, or deposit may be forfeited. Clients must arrive 10 minutes prior to appointments to allow sufficient time to fill out forms etc. If the client is running late due to issues out of clients control (traffic) a CALL MUST BE MADE to Green Lotus prior to the appointment to notify them of the arrival time. Failure to not notify the shop of any delay more than 15 minutes will result in the forfeit of the deposit. Clients will be charged for their full appointment time allotted, regardless of a late arrival (on their end).

LARGER WORK

For larger work (half sleeve and above), if you wish to make changes to a design, you must make another consultation appointment NO LATER THAN 7 DAYS prior to your scheduled tattoo appointment. Any changes requested on the day of the tattoo appointment will incur additional costs. Tattoo designs will not be available for viewing prior to the tattoo appointment without a second consultation being made. Booking a tattoo with a tattooer is a leap of faith and trust, and the right tattooer must be chosen wisely.

SMALLER WORKS

For smaller work (hand size or smaller), if you wish to make changes to a design, you must make another consultation appointment NO LATER THAN 3 DAYS prior to your scheduled tattoo appointment.

TATTOO DESIGN

Each tattooer at Green Lotus has their own style of art and clients must carefully choose the right artist for the job. The staff at Green Lotus are happy to advise clients in assigning the best tattooer for the job. Most tattooers feel morally or professionally uncomfortable directly copying other tattoo designs off the internet. Although it is ok to use existing tattoo designs as reference and inspiration, tattoo Designs/photographs of existing tattoos may be subject to copyright or intellectual property and may be changed slightly resulting in a unique and original tattoo design. Tattooers at Green Lotus will NOT tattoo a design they are not proud of or would not put their name to. If it comes down to an issue of personal taste and an agreed design cannot be made, then the staff at Green Lotus will do their best to advise an alternate tattooer for the job. Any advice given by the tattooer regarding design is their professional opinion with the clients best interest in mind and the aim to give the best tattoo possible. Some limitations may occur regarding size and placement; this advice is not trying to ‘disregard’ the clients tattoo choice but is trying to ensure the best result possible. Neither the Tattooer nor Green Lotus is responsible for the meaning or spelling of the symbol or text provided by the client or sourced from flash material. Please proof read any material before the consultation. Clients release the right to any photographs taken of them and the tattoo, and also give consent in advance to their reproduction in print or electronic form. (If you do not initial this provision, please inform your Tattooer and Green Lotus NOT to take any pictures of you and your completed tattoo).

COVER-UPS

"Cover-ups" are not the full solution to regretful tattoos. Cover-ups will NEVER fully cover a pre-existing tattoo, and parts of the original tattoo may still show through the new tattoo over time. Laser removal may be suggested to lighten the existing tattoo as much as possible before a cover-up can start. Tattooers are within their right to completely refuse doing a cover-up tattoo as they may feel it doesn’t represent their best work. Tattoos age and fade with time; Green Lotus is not financially responsible for ‘fixing’ aged or sun damaged tattoos years after the tattoo has healed.

ATTENDANCE

A friend/family member is allowed to accompany clients to tattoo appointments, however, more than one guest is not permitted. Our tattoo booths are smaller, and it can get too crowded for the tattooist to work comfortably as well as the comfort of the other clients. Although most of the tattooers are parents, children are not allowed in the tattoo studio and are not allowed to sit in on appointments. This is for a number of reasons, but mainly for the kids safety and the comfort of other clients. Consider your tattoo appointment some much needed ‘you time’.

HEALTH, HYGIENE AND AFTERCARE

TATTOO ASSOCIATED RISKS

Though these risks are rare, there are inherent risks associated with getting a tattoo. These risks, known and unknown can lead to injury, including but not limited to:

  • Infection
  • Scarring
  • difficulties in the detection of melanoma
  • allergic reactions to tattoo pigment
  • Allergic reactions to latex gloves and/or soap
  • Allergic reactions to aftercare creams/adhesive bandages

Having been informed of the potential risks associated with getting a tattoo, and the clients wish to proceed with the tattoo procedure and application, freely accept and expressly assume any and all risks that may arise from tattooing. It is the clients responsibility to alert members of Green Lotus staff of any allergies or medical conditions that may affect getting tattooed or a risk to their health.

PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS

Green Lotus takes every precaution to ensure the health and safety of their clients. Acknowledging that; if clients have any of the following:

  • HEPATITIS  A
  • HEPATITIS B
  • HEPATITIS C
  • HIV
  • AIDS
  • PREGNANCY
  • Are undergoing CHEMOTHERAPY
  • Diabetes
  • Suffer from heart attacks
  • Or any other medical conditions that place you at a higher risk while receiving/healing a tattoo
  • Staph infections

Clients will be strongly advised to not pursue getting tattooed as these conditions affect the immune system, as a fresh tattoo is essentially an open wound and can leave you vulnerable to the risk of infection and or adverse effects to the body. If clients suffer from any of the conditions mentioned above and still wish to be tattooed, we will require a doctor's certificate consenting to the tattoo.

Clients will not be tattooed if any of the below skin conditions are present. If clients suffer from any dermatological conditions such as:

  • Sunburn
  • Eczema
  • Rashes
  • Infections
  • Open wounds
  • Dermatitis
  • Ringworm

That directly affects the area that is getting tattooed, clients must notify the tattooer or CALL Green Lotus at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Failure to notify 72 hours prior may result in the forfeit of your deposit. Clients must advise the tattooer when booking the appointment they do suffer from these conditions as this will help with the booking process.

A client must make the staff at third eye tattoo aware if they are taking any kind of blood thinners, as this can affect the tattoo process due to excessive bleeding, or prolonged healing.

TATTOO PREPARATION

Hygiene/health and safety is extremely important to Green Lotus. In preparation for the tattoo clients must ensure to be showered and in a hygienic state and must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Extreme sweat or drugs and alcohol can affect the healing of  the tattoo and may also affect safety of the tattooer and other clients. If a client has just come from work or the gym, we have shower facilities which can be used, and clients must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their appointment to allow for time. If a client arrives under the influence of drugs or alcohol their appointment will be canceled and their deposit will be lost.

Tattooers will shave the tattoo location, however if excessive hair is an issue, then clipping the hair in advance would be appreciated. NEVER wax the tattoo location in preparation for the tattoo, as waxing can cause ingrown hairs and will affect the healing of the tattoo. After the tattoo is completely healed, waxing is fine. NEVER use hair removal gel or creams in preparation for the tattoo, as these products can cause excessive bleeding during the tattoo, which will prolong or even suspend the tattoo process. NEVER use topical anaesthetics or numbing creams without the consent of the tattooer. These products can make the area incredibly difficult to tattoo and may adversely affect the healing process.

Getting tattooed puts some stress on the body, and it is extremely important that clients eat prior to the appointment. Green Lotus is in no way responsible for the client eating prior to the appointment, and are in no way responsible should fainting/dizziness occur and any possible injury that occurs as a result. Suitable clothing is preferred for the tattoo appointment. The tattoo will weep and bleed during and after completion. Clothes that can get stained and damaged should be worn. Also take into consideration the area being tattooed and wear practical clothing, ie. leg tattoo, wear shorts or a dress not jeans.

AFTERCARE

It is the clients responsibility to listen and note the aftercare and healing instructions given from the tattooer. Should any issues arise clients must contact Green Lotus or the tattooer directly before seeking advice from friends, family, internet or doctors. Green Lotus is in no way responsible for any issues caused during the healing process as a result of the clients negligence. We are here to help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
